Homestand Highlights: July 24-29

Bobby Cox Bobblehead, Ron Gant and Silento appearances headline six-game homestand

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA - The Gwinnett Braves open a six-game homestand on Friday, July 24 to begin a weekend jam-packed with special appearances and giveaways. The G-Braves will host the Charlotte Knights, Triple-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, for a three-game series from July 24-26 and the Durham Bulls, Triple-A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays, for a three-game series from July 27-29.

Former Atlanta Braves' outfielder and current FOX 5 Atlanta anchor Ron Gant will help start the homestand when he throws out the first pitch for the 7:05 p.m. game on Friday. The first 2,000 fans through the gates will receive a Ron Gant Baseball Card presented by FOX 5 Atlanta, and Gant will sign autographs from 7:15 to 8:15 p.m. (limit one item per person). Atlanta's own mascot group, the Fur Circus, will also be at the ballpark for between-inning entertainment, and the night concludes with post-game fireworks for "Fireworks Friday."

On Saturday, the first 2,000 fans through the gates for the 7:05 p.m. game will receive the first Hall of Fame Bobblehead giveaway of the season, legendary Atlanta Braves' manager Bobby Cox. The bobblehead is presented by Coolray Heating and Cooling. Saturday is also "Diversity Day" at the stadium, featuring several cultural performances and a wide variety of ethnic foods.

Atlanta recording artist Silento will be at Coolray Field for the 2:05 p.m. game on Sunday and will perform his popular song "Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)." The first 2,000 fans in attendance will also get a Gwinnett Braves Jersey Cooler Bag courtesy of Georgia Power. Additionally, Sunday is "Christmas in July" featuring a post-game Candy Drop courtesy of Blue Ridge Helicopters and Belhaven University.

Friday, July 24

Features:

  • Ron Gant Appearance - Former Atlanta Braves' outfielder and current FOX 5 Atlanta anchor Ron Gant will be at Coolray Field to throw the first pitch and sign autographs from 7:15 to 8:15 p.m. (limit one item per person). The first 2,000 fans in attendance will receive a baseball card that features Gant presented by FOX 5 Atlanta.
  • Fur Circus Appearance - Atlanta's own Fur Circus traveling mascots Buddy, Myles and Splash will bring humor and unexpected antics to the ballpark with performances throughout the game.
  • Fireworks Friday - Stick around after the game for a spectacular fireworks display.

Saturday, July 25

Sunday, July 26

Features:

  • Jersey Cooler Bag Giveaway - The first 2,000 fans to enter the stadium will receive a Gwinnett Braves Jersey Cooler Bag courtesy of Georgia Power.
  • Pre-Game Catch on the Field - To kick off every Sunday Funday, bring your ball and glove to Coolray Field for a pre-game catch in the outfield! The 20-minute catch starts when the gates open at 1 p.m.
  • Silento Appearance - Atlanta recording artist Silento will be at the ballpark and will perform his hit song "Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)."
  • Post-Game Kids Run the Bases - Bring the youngsters down and let them loose on the base paths after the game, courtesy of Belhaven University. Children must be 12 and under to participate.
  • Christmas in July - Santa will visit Coolray Field for a Christmas celebration.
  • Candy Drop - After Kids Run the Bases, a helicopter will drop more than 100 pounds of candy into the outfield grass to be collected by kids ages 12 and under. The helicopter is courtesy of Blue Ridge Helicopters, while the candy is provided by Belhaven University.

Monday, July 27

Durham Bulls (Tampa Bay Rays) vs. Gwinnett Braves, 6:35 p.m.
