Gammons: Drive "Best Prospect Team" in Baseball

Highly-respected reporter thinks highly of Greenville's talent
August 20, 2015

The Greenville Drive roster has been touted all season long as one of the best in all of the minor leagues, and one well-respected reporter took to MLB Network to make that claim as well.

Peter Gammons, the longtime Boston Globe sportswriter and former ESPN MLB analyst, is now with MLB Network, and during a 14-minute interview on Wednesday's "MLB Now" show, he mentions the Greenville Drive have "the best prospect team in baseball" just after the 4-minute mark when speaking about the strength of the Red Sox farm system.

The Drive's current active roster features six of Boston's top 30 prospects according to MLBPipeline.com. That list includes the top two prospects in the entire Red Sox system in 2B Yoan Moncada (#1) and 3B Rafael Devers (#2), as well as the newest member of the Drive, CF Andrew Benintendi (#6), SS Javier Guerra (#7), 3B Michael Chavis (#11) and 1B/OF Nick Longhi (#20).

MLBPipeline.com's list also includes four other players who have seen action with the Drive in 2015, including RHP Michael Kopech (#8), RHP Ty Buttrey (#16), IF Mauricio Dubon (#21) and LHP Williams Jerez (#25).

Peter Gammons and the national media have said great things about the Drive roster all season long, and fans, don't miss what could be your last chance to see them in Greenville before they reach the major leagues! The Drive have nine guaranteed home games remaining in the 2015 season as they make a push for the South Atlantic League Playoffs.

The team returns to Fluor Field on Tuesday, August 25th against the Greensboro Grasshoppers, affiliate of the Miami Marlins, at 7:05 PM. Purchase tickets now to see these outstanding Red Sox prospects in action by heading to the Main Street Box Office, calling (864) 240-4528 or going to GreenvilleDrive.com.
