Mets beat Cardinals 6-4 in rubber game

Wright goes 0 for 4 with RBI ground out

JUPITER, Fla. (August 22, 2015) - The St. Lucie Mets held on to beat the Palm Beach Cardinals 6-4 in the rubber game of the three-game series on Saturday at Roger Dean Stadium.
 
In his latest rehab game, David Wright went 0 for 4 with a RBI ground out. He played six innings at third base and made a catch in foul ground near the tarp for the last out of the sixth.
 
Wright is 9 for 28 in eight rehab games. All nine hits are singles.
 
The Mets took a 6-1 lead to the last of the ninth but struggled to put the game away. The Cardinals scored three runs on four hits against Robby Coles but Jimmy Duff came out of the bullpen and struck out Danny Diekroeger to end it. Duff registered his first save.
 
Scarlyn Reyes pitched five effective innings allowing just one run on four hits. He walked four batters, including two in a row in the fifth, but rallied to strike out Collin Radack to finish his outing.
 
Victor Cruzado's hit a two-run double off the first base bag in the third to start the scoring.
 
Wright lined a ball off of pitcher Luis Perdomo's glove in the sixth to bring in another run to make it 3-1. Perdomo had his glove knocked off but he recovered the throw Wright out at first.
 
RBI singles by Dominic Smith and Stefan Sabol in the sixth increased the Mets lead to 5-1.
 
The Mets added an important insurance run in the ninth. Lednier Ricardo hit a double and scored from third on a wild pitch to make it 6-1.
 
Sabol and Jeff McNeil had two hits apiece for the Mets.
 
Mike Hepple tossed two scoreless innings of relief.
 
The Mets (63-62, 28-27) go back out on the road again Sunday to begin at three-game series at the Charlotte Stone Crabs. First pitch is at 4 p.m.
