Hawks Continue to Streak; Drop Canadians 5-2

Vancouver, British Columbia - The suddenly streaking Hawks won their third consecutive game against the Vancouver Canadians on Wednesday night by a score of 5-2.
 
The Hawks wasted no time scoring, putting up one run in the first inning when Scott Burcham scored on a Brian Mundell sacrifice fly.


The Hawks added a second run in the third inning when Brian Carroll laced an RBI single to centerfield that gave the Hawks the 2-0 lead. 

David Hill received the start for the Hawks and pitched four and 2/3 innings allowing six hits and two runs that came on an Andrew Guillotte RBI bunt single in the third inning and a Gunnar Heidt solo home run in the fifth.

The Hawks tacked on three more runs in the sixth inning on a Nate Causey RBI sacrifice fly and a Heidt fielding error that allowed two runs to score off a Wilkyns Jimenez grounder.

Dylan Thompson entered and shut down the Canadians in the ninth inning to pick up his second save of the season.

The Hawks (12-16) and the Canadians (13-14) will meet again tomorrow afternoon for the final game of this five game series. First pitch is set for 2:05 p.m.

Notes: Chad Zurat picked up his first win with the Hawks… Drasen Johnson picked up his first hold of the season… Mundell brought his RBI total to 33… The Hawks went 2 for 12 with runners in scoring position… The Hawks have now won three in a row and eight of their last 10 games.
