Green Sharp as 'Wolves Shut Out Baysox

The SeaWolves returned home on Friday night and began the final homestand of 2015 with a 5-0 win over the Bowie Baysox at Jerry Uht Park.

The SeaWolves jumped ahead in the second against Baysox starter Gene Escat. Dominic Ficociello led off with a single and moved to third on a Wade Gaynor single off the left field wall. Austin Green grounded out to short, scoring Ficociello for a 1-0 lead.

Erie added to the lead in the fourth. Jason Krizan led off the inning and crushed a solo home run, his eighth, making it 2-0. Wade Gaynor followed with a single and stole second. With two outs, Harold Castro ripped a two-run home run, his first, over the wall in right making it 4-0 Erie. The home run for Castro was the fourth of his career and his first since July 2, 2013 with West Michigan.

The SeaWolves final run came in the eighth against reliever Branden Keller. With two outs and JaCoby Jones at second, Jeff McVaney singled home the fifth run of the game.

Chad Green (5-14) was masterful in his final start of the season. He tossed six shutout innings allowing six hits with a walk while equaling a season-high with eight strikeouts. Green finished the season tossing 18 consecutive scoreless innings.

Matt Crouse tossed two scoreless while Paul Voelker worked a 1-2-3 ninth, preserving the Erie shutout.

The SeaWolves take on the Baysox in doubleheader action on Saturday night beginning at 5:05 p.m. It's Fan Appreciation Night with post-game fireworks following game two. The SeaWolves will give away thousands of dollars in prizes including autographed memorabilia as a part of Fan Appreciation Night.
