Phillies Triple-A Notches First Win, 2-1

The Phillies Triple-A Spring Training squad (1-2) notched their first win of the spring with a 2-1 victory over the Blue Jays team on Friday afternoon.

1B Tommy Joseph (3-3, RBI) led the way offensively for the Phillies side. INF Carlos Alonso (1-3, RBI) also drove in a run.

Alonso missed most of the 2015 season due to injury, but hit .262-0-6 in 12 G with Reading (AA). The Boston native spent the entire 2014 season with Reading and hit .272-10-44 over 127 G with the Fightin Phils.

LHP Anthony Vasquez (3.0 IP, 3 H, 3 K) tossed three scoreless innings in relief for the Phillies squad. RHP David Buchanan (1.0 IP, BB), LHP Joely Rodriguez (2.0 IP, 2 H, 2 BB) and LHP Tom Windle (1.0 IP, K) also had scoreless outings on the mound.

Vasquez spent most of the 2015 season with Lehigh Valley and was 8-8 with a 4.56 ERA in 20 GS for the IronPigs. The southpaw began the season with Reading and was 1-0 with a 2.13 ERA in 8 G (2 GS).

The Phillies Triple-A Spring Training squad will next host the Yankees team on Saturday afternoon. First pitch from the Carpenter Complex in Clearwater is set for 1:00 p.m.
