Hodges, Castillo and Miller Join South Bend

Cubs Begin Six-Game Road Trip With Six Transactions

DAVENPORT, IA - The South Bend Cubs roster welcomed three new players to their roster as they being a six-game road trip.

2015 South Bend infielder Jesse Hodges and catcher Erick Castillo have re-joined the Cubs along with newcomer pitcher Kyle Miller.

Pitcher Scott Frazier was transferred from South Bend to the Cubs Extended Spring Training in Mesa. Infielder Adonis Paula was placed on the disabled list. Infielder Carlos Sepulveda is currently on the inactive list.

The 22-year old Hodges hit .238 in 90 games with South Bend last year with six home runs and 34 driven in. The native of British Columbia signed with the Cubs organization as an international free agent in 2012 following his participation in the World Junior Tournament.

Castillo joins South Bend from Advanced-A Myrtle Beach where he was on the disabled list. Last year in South Bend the switch-hitting catcher hit .222 in 135 at-bats. The 23-year old originally signed by the Chicago Cubs as an international free agent in 2010.

The right-handed throwing Miller comes to South Bend from the Cubs Extended Spring Training. The 22-year old Miller was a 19th round selection of the Chicago Cubs in last summer's Major League Baseball First Year Player Draft out of Florida Atlantic. Miller finished last season at Eugene in the Northwest League and appeared in seven games with a 7.71 earned run average.

Frazier appeared in six games with South Bend and recorded an 8.59 earned run average. 

Paula started the season on the disabled list before being activated on April 21. The 21-year old appeared in one game collecting one hit in four trips to the plate.

Sepulveda is hitting .276 in six games with South Bend.

The South Bend Cubs take a five-game winning streak in tonight's game at the Quad Cities River Bandits.   First pitch is set for 8:00pm(ET).
