LP: Jones (1-1)

The El Paso Chihuahuas shut out the Salt Lake Bees 9-0 Tuesday in a rain-shortened victory. As El Paso took the field for the bottom of the sixth inning, heavy rain pounded the field at Smith's Ballpark. After a one hour and 30 minute delay, the game was called.

The Chihuahuas scored eight runs in the top of the fourth inning, with seven of the runs coming before the first out was recorded. The rally included eight hits, with five going for extra bases. The eight tallies tied the team record for most runs in an inning, originally set on July 22, 2015 at Sacramento.

Bryan Rodriguez pitched a rain-shortened complete game shutout for the Chihuahuas in his 2016 Triple-A debut. It was the second individual shutout of the series for the Chihuahuas and fourth in team history. Rodriguez joined the club earlier in the day from Double-A San Antonio.

Tuesday's game clinched the first series win of the season for the Chihuahuas, who won three of the four games against the Bees. El Paso has won five of its last six games. The Chihuahuas do not play on Wednesday.
