For the second straight day, Miracle lose in Charlotte by a 2-1 score

Fort Myers homers in 5th straight game as Murphy's round-tripper accounts for only run
May 1, 2016

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. (May 1, 2016) - In a game very similar to the one played the previous night, the Fort Myers Miracle hit a home run, yet dropped a 2-1 decision to the Charlotte Stone Crabs on Sunday afternoon at Charlotte Sports Park. The Miracle lost to the Stone Crabs by that same score on Saturday, despite a homerun off the bat of Alex Real.

Charlotte jumped out on top in the very first inning off of Miracle starter and loser Randy Rosario. Riley Unroe led off with a line drive double to right field, and then scored from third base one out later on Grant Kay's ground out to second to put the hosts ahead 1-0.

The Miracle tied the score in the top of the third inning on Max Murphy's fly ball home run to left-center field. The round-tripper, Murphy's first of the season in only his second game for Fort Myers, has now given the Miracle a home run in five consecutive games.

The Stone Crabs, however, regained the lead in the fifth inning. Unroe again led off with a double, and this time scored when Bralin Jackson followed with another two-bagger of his own to put Charlotte on top 2-1.

The Miracle, who hit into three double plays on the afternoon, did put two runners on base in both the seventh and eighth innings, but were unable to push across the tying run.

Greg Harris (3-1) scattered six hits in seven innings of work, striking out four without allowing a walk, to earn the win for the Stone Crabs, while Brian Miller worked the final 1 1/3 scoreless innings to pick up his second save. Rosario (2-2) took the loss for the Miracle as he allowed six hits and two runs while walking three and striking out four in his 5 1/3 innings of work.

This nine-game road trip now continues for the Miracle (13-11) on Monday night as they travel back to Florida's east coast to take on the Palm Beach Cardinals in the first of a three-games series. The first pitch is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter. Fans can listen to the broadcast with the "Voice of the Miracle" Brice Zimmerman at http://www.miraclebaseball.com/. The MiracleBaseball.com pregame show begins at 6:05 p.m.
