Doubleheader Split, 4-3, 6-0

The Rome Braves split a doubleheader on Thursday against the Hickory Crawdads in front of a crowd of 4,448.

 

In game one the Braves struck first on a Justin Ellison (2) solo homer over the right field wall. The Crawdads struck back in the fifth scoring two runs off of a LeDarius Clark (2) two run home run. Rome answered quickly plating two of their own in the inning off of a Ronald Acuna RBI triple. The other run came off of a Luke Dykstra sacrifice bunt bringing the score to 3-2. The Crawdads tied things up in the seventh inning on LeDarius Clark's RBI single. In the bottom of the inning, Ronald Acuna singled and stole second and later scored on Jonathan Morales' walk-off single making the final score of 4-3. Oriel Caicedo (1-0) gets the win while John Werner (0-1) is tagged with his first loss.

 

In the second game the Crawdads scored four runs in the first which would be all they would need. Two runs were scored on a 2-RBI single by Chuck Moorman and two more runs would cross the plate on a Lucas Herbert throwing error. Crawfish pitching would shut the Braves out for the 6-0 win. Jonathan Hernandez (4-1) earns his fourth win of the year while Mike Soroka (0-3) is charged with the loss.
