Bees Swept In Tacoma

May 6, 2016

The Salt Lake Bees suffered their sixth consecutive loss on Thursday night, as the Tacoma Rainiers prevailed 5-2. The Bees took their first lead of the series in the top of the first on an RBI infield single by Kaleb Cowart, but Tacoma answered with two runs in the bottom of the first on an error and an RBI single by Mike Baxter. The Rainiers would add single runs in the third, sixth and seventh innings, while Salt Lake managed just one more run on an eighth inning sacrifice fly by Todd Cunningham.

Salt Lake starter Kyle McGowin (0-1) took the loss in his Triple-A debut, as he went five and two-third innings and allowed four runs, three earned, on nine hits with four strikeouts and one walk. Cunningham led the Bees with two hits, including a double, and one run batted in, as Salt Lake scored only five runs in four games at Tacoma. The four game sweep by the Rainiers was their first over the Bees since July, 2010 in Salt Lake City
