"Lil bit of Country, Lil bit of Rock & Roll" 2016

PickAxe concert series to take place at Bowling Green Ballpark on 8/13
May 6, 2016

Bowling Green, Kentucky ‐‐‐ PickAxe presents the First Annual "Lil bit of Country, Lil bit of Rock & Roll Fest" at Bowling Green Ballpark on Saturday, August 13.

To continue the trend of securing award-winning musical acts to perform for the PixAxe concert series, Ted Nugent will headline this 2016 festival.

An ultimate guitar-shredding showman, Ted Nugent has carved a permanent place in rock & roll history, selling more than 40 million albums, performing 6,500 high‐octane live shows and continuing to set attendance records at venues around the globe. He was named "Detroit's Greatest Guitar Player of All Time" by readers of MLive, with his no‐holds‐barred career spanning five decades of multi‐platinum hits.

From the ground breaking Amboy Dukes' hit Journey to the Center of the Mind, to classics like Stranglehold (ranked in the Top 100 Classic Rock Songs and #1 Guitar Lick), Cat Scratch Fever (32nd Best Hard Rock Song of All Time), chartbuster High Enough and cult classic Fred Bear (the most requested song for radio airplay in Michigan & Wisconsin), Ted and his inimitable sound have been featured on VH1's Behind the Music, A & E's Biography and more.

For millions of passionate music lovers everywhere, Ted delivers the ultimate life soundtrack. A Ted Nugent show is not just a performance-it's a firebreathing celebration!

In addition to Ted, the PickAxe concert series will include a handful of other acts, including American post‐grunge band Puddle of Mudd from Kansas City, Missouri. The band has sold over 7 million albums and has string of number one mainstream rock singles in the U.S. Their major label debut Come Clean has sold over five million copies and their album Famous,   like both albums before it, was certified gold after selling more than 500,000 copies in America alone.

Propelled by the hit Psycho, the album cemented Puddle of Mudd's status as bona‐fide hit makers and earned them industry accolades, including Billboard's No. 1 Mainstream Rock Song of 2008 and No. 2 Rock Band of the Year, where they finished second only to the Foo Fighters.

Joining Puddle of Mud will be another well-renowned Detroit-native, Uncle Kracker. His 2000 major label debut, Double Wide, fittingly went double‐platinum and yielded #1 smash, Follow Me. Their 2002 follow‐up, No Stranger To Shame, reached gold status and spawned cross‐format hits such as In A Little While and the powerful cover of Dobie Gray's Drift Away, which set a Billboard record for most weeks at #1 on any chart, topping their #1 run on the Adult Contemporary radio charts for a staggering 28 weeks. Uncle Kracker also joined superstar Kenny Chesney in When The Sun Goes Down, which impressively spent five weeks at #1 on Billboard's Hot Country Songs Chart.

Throughout, he played sold out shows across the country and appeared everywhere from the American Country Music Awards to Late Night with Conan O'Brien. In 2012, he fully embraced his country side with his critically acclaimed fifth outing, Midnight Special.

To open up the whole event, Sawyer Fredericks has certainly come a long way from the 88‐acre Upstate New York farm where he grew up.

His stark honesty and soulful delivery turned him into a national phenomenon during the eighth season of NBC's Emmy award‐winning The Voice. As part of "Team Pharrell," he emerged as the youngest victor in the show's history at just 16‐years‐old. Moreover, he made history for the show, becoming the first artist to land 14 songs in the iTunes Overall Top 200 Songs Chart in one week. All in all, his digital sales exceeded 1 million cumulative singles, making him one of the most successful artists ever in the history of the show.

However, home is still a big part of his soulful, contemporary folk sound.

"That's where I started playing guitar," he says. "It was so much fun growing up there. There was a lot of open space, and I was able to be around animals. Nature really inspired me. I feel like it gave me a different musical perspective."

Most importantly, Sawyer's time on The Voice taught him quite a few things.

"I learned so much," he says. "It was incredible to be around that many artists and see so much talent. I took it all in. Getting to perform on that stage was amazing. I also remember Pharrell gave me a piece of advice. He said, 'Stay true to yourself.' I'll never forget that."

Ultimately, Sawyer forges a true connection between his roots and his passion for music that has lead him to where he is today "I want the lyrics and music to connect to the audience," he leaves off. "I just hope they feel when they hear me." He is currently on a headline tour in support of his debut album, A Good Storm, being released May 13.
