BIRMINGHAM, AL - A walk-off single by Birmingham Barons shortstop Eddy Alvarez sent a sellout crowd of 8,500 fans at Regions Field home with a 5-4 win over the Jackson Generals.

Alvarez, who is now 5-for-15 against the Generals this series, pushed home Barons second baseman Joey DeMichele with one out in the home half of the ninth inning. DeMichele started the final frame with a leadoff double before catcher Chris O'Dowd advanced him to third base.

Birmingham battled back from a two-run deficit late in the game, with O'Dowd delivering DeMichele past home plate in the seventh inning and Trey Michalczewski posting his 14th RBI of the season on an eighth inning single that scored left fielder Jake Peter.

The Barons opened an early 2-0 lead on the Generals with Nicky Delmonico's double in the first inning, followed by an Eudy Pina single in the third frame that scored Keenyn Walker.

Matt Lollis collected his third win of the season in relief, throwing 1.2 scoreless innings and allowing just one hit. James Dykstra tossed 3.1 stout frames out of the bullpen, allowing no runs on four hits while striking out a pair.

Starter Carson Fulmer allowed four runs in the fourth inning, finishing with four hits allowed in four innings pitched. He struck out three in his first no decision of the season.

LHP David Holmberg toes the slab for the Barons tomorrow evening, pitching for the first time at Regions Field since his May 1 victory over the Pensacola Blue Wahoos.
