May 13, 2016

Zach Eflin allowed one earned run over seven innings as the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (17-17) won their second straight with a 5-1 win over the Toledo Mud Hens (16-17) on Friday night at Fifth Third Field in Toledo.

Eflin (4-0) allowed the one run on four hits to go along with a walk and five strikeouts in his 7.0 IP.

The IronPigs grabbed a 1-0 lead with a run in the second as Andrew Knapp led off with a double and scored on Brock Stassi's RBI single.

Lehigh Valley opened up a 3-0 lead with a pair of runs in the fourth as Darnell Sweeney (3-4, 2 2B, RBI, R) knocked home a run with an RBI double and Angelys Nina (2-4, RBI) plated another via an RBI single.

Cameron Maybin's solo shot in the home half of the frame brought the Mud Hens within 3-1.

In the top of the fifth, RBI singles from Stassi (2-4, 2 RBI) and Cam Perkins gave the Pigs a 5-1 advantage and provided all the scoring they would need.

Toledo starter Josh Turley (2-3) gave up the five runs on 11 hits while walking one and fanning a pair in six innings of work.

RHP Luis Garcia (2.0 IP, H, K) got the final six outs in a scoreless relief outing for manager Dave Brundage's squad.

The series continues on Saturday at 7:05 p.m. as RHP David Buchanan (1-2, 5.34) gets the ball for the IronPigs against Toledo RHP Buck Farmer (0-1, 4.70).
