May 19, 2016

Modesto, CA. - An unearned run was the difference in the Modesto Nuts' 1-0 loss against the Visalia Rawhide on Wednesday night at John Thurman Field.

With the game scoreless and two outs in the seventh, the Rawhide (25-14) nine hitter Victor Reyes rolled a groundball up the middle with a man at second. Emerson Jimenez allowed the ball to sneak under his glove and allow the lone run to score against the Nuts (16-23).

Sam Howard (L, 2-2) was great for the Nuts tossing 6.2 innings with four hits, one walk and nine strikeouts.

The game ended when Luis Jean tried to score on a wild pitch with two outs in the ninth. Austin Wright (SV 1) threw a pitch in the dirt that kicked away from the catcher Oscar Hernandez. Hernadez got to it quickly and threw back to the pitcher covering the plate to record the final out of the game.

Brad Keller (W, 3-2) was terrific for the Rawhide. The righty worked 7.2 efficient innings allowing four hits, walking one and striking out six.
