Darvish Shuts Down Missions

FRISCO--Yu Darvish cruised thru his scheduled six-inning start and the Roughriders won their league-best 29th game of the season Sunday evening at Dr. Pepper Ballpark.

Darvish allowed three hits, walked one, and fanned six before exiting after throwing 87 pitches. The Rangers all-star right-hander is expected to rejoin the big club and start next Satruday against Pittsburgh.

The Missions spoiled Frisco's shutout bid when Nelson Ward doubled home Auston Bousfield in the eighth inning.

San Antonio starter Luis Diaz struggled throughout his outing, yielding a leadoff homerun to Lewis Brinson the first. 

Diaz lasted a season-low three innings. He was charged with five runs, four earned. Diaz entered play with a 3.66 ERA over his five previous starts, all lasting at least six innings.

The series wraps up Monday morning at 11:05 before the club opens a six-game homestand on Tuesday.
