BOX SCORE

SOUTH BEND, IN - Great Lakes' Ariel Sandoval put an end to the South Bend Cubs six-game winning streak as he hit a solo home run in the second inning and a two-run shot in the third sending Great Lakes to a 9-4 win over South Bend at Four Winds Field.

South Bend starter Adbert Alzolay went five innings for his eighth start of at least five innings this year. But a rare rough outing for Alzolay (4-1) ended with five hits allowed and four runs scored.

The Cubs, who had their streak of hitting a home runs in seven straight games halted, watched the Loons hit three dingers including a two-run shot by Matt Jones in the ninth inning of South Bend reliever Greyfer Eregua.

South Bend tried to stage a comeback in the seventh inning down 7-2. Eloy Jimenez extended his hitting streak to 13 games with a two-RBI double. But the inning's momentum was halted when Jimenez was picked off second base.

The Cubs open a brand new series at Four Winds Field tonight at 7:35 on WSBT Radio versus the Lansing Lugnuts (Blue Jays). Ryan Kellogg (2-3, 4.83) is the Cubs starting pitcher.
