Pedro Araujo Joins Cubs Pitching Staff

Reliever John Williamson Placed On The Disabled List

SOUTH BEND, IN - The South Bend Cubs have placed pitcher John Williamson on the disabled list and added pitcher Pedro Araujo to the team's 25-man roster.

Araujo joins the South Bend Cubs from the Chicago Cubs Extended Spring Training in Mesa. 

Last year for Eugene in the Northwest League, the 22-year old right-handed pitcher posted a 2.68 earned run average with one save. In 21 appearances out of the Emeralds bullpen, Araujo threw 50 and a third innings allowing 43 hits, 15 earned runs, walking nine while striking out 70.

Araujo was signed by the Chicago Cubs as an international free agent on May 2, 2011.

Williamson had appeared in eleven games for South Bend with a no record and a 4.15 earned run average. The Rice University product last game was yesterday versus Great Lakes allowing three runs on four hits in two innings.

Williamson was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the 23rd round of the 2015 MLB Draft.

The South Bend Cubs host the Lansing Lugnuts tonight at 7:35pm from Four Winds Field in downtown South Bend.
