Wagner Makes Fourth Trip to Iowa

May 28, 2016

DES MOINES - The Iowa Cubs added RHP Michael Wagner to the roster from Advanced-A Myrtle Beach, the club announced today. In a counter move, C.J Riefenhauser was removed from the roster.

Wagner will make his fourth start for Iowa as he gets the ball tonight against Albuquerque. In four games played with the I-Cubs this season, Wagner holds a 6.08 ERA through 13.1 innings pitched, allowing nine runs and striking out 14.

This marks Wagner's fourth stint with the I-Cubs this season with the righty making no more than two appearances in any single trip to Des Moines, his last coming on May 12. Through 11 career appearances with the I-Cubs, Wagner holds a 0-2 record with a 5.86 ERA.

Riefenhauser appeared in 15 games for Iowa in relief and posted a 0-1 record with a 7.30 ERA in 12.1 innings of work. He has pitched 12 scoreless outings but was tagged with six earned runs on April 10 and three on May 23 to cause his inflated ERA.

The Iowa Cubs and Albuquerque Isotopes play game two of the four-game series at 7:08 p.m. tonight at Principal Park. Promotions include Nasacort Cup Night and Barefoot Refresh Spritzers Sampling. For more information or tickets, visit www.iowacubs.com
