Box Score | Play-by-Play

BIRMINGHAM, AL -- Birmingham Barons starter Tyler Danish dished seven stout innings, but the Mobile BayBears capitalized on a seventh inning double to take tonight's series opener by a 2-0 final score.

Danish, the White Sox no. 11 prospect, dealt seven innings and struck out four despite being tagged with the loss. He allowed no walks and just five hits while throwing 68 strikes and 94 total pitches.

Kevin Cron's two-RBI double with two outs in the seventh inning proved to be the difference as Birmingham dropped to 4-3 in shutouts this year.

At the plate, Birmingham mustered just four hits, with Eddy Alvarez, Nick Basto, Eudy Pina, and Jake Peter recording singles. Basto and Alvarez also reached on walks.

Peter Tago pitched two scoreless innings of relief, allowing no hits and just two walks while tallying three strikeouts.

Anthony Banda picked up the win for Mobile, who struck out eight Barons hitters in 6.2 innings of work.

The Barons and BayBears continue a five game series tomorrow morning with an 11:30 a.m. first pitch at Regions Field. Southpaw Jordan Guerrero takes to the mound, looking to build off a solid seven inning outing at Rickwood Field last Wednesday afternoon.
