June 6, 2016

San Antonio -The San Antonio Missions are proud to announce that outfielder Nick Torres was named Texas League Player of the Week for May 30-June 5.

In his six games this past week, Torres hit .545 (12-for-22) with five doubles, one homer, three RBI and three runs scored. For the week, Torres led the TL in hits, extra-base hits, total bases (20), doubles and SLG (.909). The 22-year old also ranked 2nd in AVG and 3rd in OBP (.583).

Torres racked up a pair of hits in each of his first three games of the week at Northwest Arkansas. After rain washed out Friday night's opener in North Little Rock, AR, Torres helped San Antonio to a 6-0 win over Arkansas in Saturday night's game one of a doubleheader by driving in two of the club's first three runs.

He saved his best performance for Sunday's series finale against the Travs, finishing 3-for-4 with a double, a homer, an RBI and a run scored. Torres and teammate Taylor Lindsey both recorded seven total bases in yesterday's 4-3 loss, setting a new club, season-high.

In 50 games this season for San Antonio, Torres is hitting .306 (60-for-196) with 15 doubles, two triples, five homers, 22 RBI, 23 runs and four stolen bases. Torres is T-1st in the Texas League in doubles, 3rd in hits, 5th in AVG and T-5th in extra-base hits.

San Diego selected Torres in the fourth round of the 2014 First-Year Player Draft out of Cal Poly State University, San Luis Obispo.

Torres will take a season-high, eight-game hit streak into Tuesday night when San Antonio opens up a four-game series against Frisco at Wolff Stadium.
