Drive Complete Sweep of Crawdads with 4-1 Win

Boyd works seven strong innings
June 15, 2016

Greenville, SC - An outstanding start on the mound by Logan Boyd set the tone for the Greenville Drive on Wednesday night, as they defeated the Hickory Crawdads 4-1 and finished a sweep of the three-game series at Fluor Field.

Boyd (7-4) worked a career-high seven innings and held the Crawdads (37-28) to four hits, one run and one walk while striking out five.

A three-run bottom of the first for the Drive (35-30) gave Boyd all the support he needed. Michael Chavis and Josh Ockimey hit back-to-back singles off Dillon Tate (2-3) with one out, and a Hickory misplay in center field allowed Chavis to come home. A fielder's choice scored Ockimey later in the inning, and Luis Alexander Basabe added an RBI single to make the score 3-0.

In the third, Basabe drove in his second run of the night with a groundout to plate Ockimey, who led off the inning with a walk.

Hickory scored their lone run of the evening in the seventh when Chuck Moorman singled to left to bring home Dylan Moore, who hit a leadoff double.

Trevor Kelley and Anyelo Leclerc kept the Crawdads scoreless in the final two innings, and Leclerc picked up his seventh save.

Greenville received two-hit nights from Luis Alejandro and Luis Alexander Basabe as well as Michael Chavis.

Following Wednesday's win, the Drive finish the first-half home schedule with a 19-16 record. They will conclude the first half of the season with a four-game road series against the Hagerstown Suns, affiliate of the Washington Nationals. First pitch is at 7:05 PM, and Drive right-hander Anderson Espinoza (4-4, 3.35) will square off against Suns right-hander Joan Baez (2-5, 5.21).
