Stevens HR Leads Missions to Victory

MIDLAND--River Stevens slugged his first Double-A homerun while Nick Torres and Jose Rondon added rbi-hits to help the Missions snap both their six-game losing streak and seven-game road losing streak Thursday night at Security Bank Ballpark.

Stevens two-run shot into the right-field bullpen got the scoring started in the second inning. Torres and Rondon had back-to-back run scoring hits an inning later, with Torres collecting his league-leading 20th double of the season.

Aaron Northcraft worked 5.2 innings, allowing both Midland runs, while four relievers combined to shut out the Rockhounds the rest of the way.

All-Star closer Jason Jester notched his eighth save of the season.

The win was just the second for San Antonio in 18 road games decided by one or two runs. It was only their seventh win in Midland in their last 29 games in the Permian Basin.

NOTES: C Ryan Miller (thumb) was activated from the DL and started...The Missions bullpen has a collective 2.14 ERA over the last 22 games...The Missions and Midland play a double-header Friday.
