DES MOINES - The Iowa Cubs, in conjunction with the Chicago Cubs, called-up right-hander Starling Peralta from Double-A Tennessee today to start in game two of the doubleheader. Righty Adam Warren was also optioned to Iowa from Chicago.

Peralta has primarily served as a reliever for the Smokies this season with a 3.82 clip through 19 appearances. He holds a 2-1 record and has given up just 14 earned runs in 33.0 innings pitched. Peralta's only start for Tennessee this season came on June 17 when he threw four scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and whiffing three batters.

Through 25.2 innings of work, he has allowed 13 earned runs, 14 walks and struck out 18. He joins Iowa to stretch out and eventually serve as the sixth man in Chicago's rotation.
