Bees Take 10-5 Win Over El Paso

June 24, 2016

The Salt Lake Bees jumped out to a 6-0 lead and never looked back in a 10-5 win over the El Paso Chihuahuas on Thursday night. Salt Lake grabbed a 2-0 lead in the second inning on a two run homer by Cal Towey that landed on a third floor catwalk in right field. They would add four more runs in the fourth on a two run triple by Nick Buss, an RBI single by Juan Graterol and a run scoring fielder's choice by Towey. El Paso would cut the Bees' lead in half with three runs in the fourth, but Salt Lake put the game away with one run in the seventh on a sacrifice fly by Graterol and a three run homer by Todd Cunningham in the eighth.

Bees' starting pitcher Kyle Kendrick (6-2) earned his third straight win, as he went six innings and allowed three runs, two earned, on seven hits with six strikeouts and one walk. Kaleb Cowart led the Bees' fourteen hit attack with his second four-hit game of the season. Cunningham, in his first game back from the Angels, added two hits and three runs batted in, while Graterol chipped in with two hits and two RBI. Towey had one hit and three runs batted in and Buss drove in two runs, as the Bees snapped a five game losing streak.
