Shorebirds Present Donation To Richard A. Henson Cancer Institute

Annual Pink Pitch Night Raises Over $2,700 For Local Cancer Service Center

SALISBURY, Md. -- The Delmarva Shorebirds are proud to announce the results from the 2016 PRMC Pink Pitch Night to benefit the Richard A. Henson Cancer Institute, as the team presented a check for $2,728.92.

"Our organization is always happy to help an integral part of the community such as the Richard A. Henson Cancer Institute," Shorebirds general manager Chris Bitters said. "We're very satisfied in how our fans answered the call and showed their support with donations."

The 2016 PRMC Pink Pitch Night was held on May 14 at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium when the Delmarva Shorebirds faced off against the Greensboro Grasshoppers. Shorebirds players and coaches wore special pink jerseys that were auctioned off during the game, with the funds raised being presented to the Richard A. Henson Cancer Institute at the Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.

The Delmarva Shorebirds are the Class "A" Affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles. The Shorebirds are owned by 7th Inning Stretch, LLC, the same company that owns the Stockton Ports of the California League and the Everett AquaSox of the Northwest League.

The Shorebirds celebrated their 20th season in 2015, and have entertained nearly five million fans since beginning play at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium in Salisbury, Md. in 1996. The team has captured South Atlantic League titles in 1997 and 2000 while successfully hosting the South Atlantic League All-Star Game in 1999 and 2011.
