Six-Run Inning Buries Tourists In 10-4 Loss

August 20, 2016

ASHEVILLE, NC-- The Asheville Tourists matched the intensity of their opponent, the Rome Braves, for the first three innings of Saturday night's game. Once the fourth inning began, Rome broke the game open and ended up with a 10-4 win.

Both teams hit a Home Run in the first inning. On the first pitch of the game, Ray-Patrick Didder hit a Home Run off Drasen Johnson to give the Braves the lead. Brendan Rodgers answered with a solo Home Run of his own in the bottom of the first; his fourth long ball of the week.

In the bottom of the third, Brian Mundell collected his 52nd double of the season and in the process drove in Carlos Herrera to put the Tourists out in front 2-1. The lead was short lived.

Rome loaded the bases with three straight singles to begin the fourth. The next batter, Carlos Castro, hit a Grand Slam to deep centerfield. The Braves would add on two more in the inning on a Tourists error.

In the sixth, Yonathan Daza misplayed a fly ball that netted the visitors another two runs. After Rome plated their final run of the game in the seventh inning, Asheville managed a pair of unearned runs in the eighth.

Rome's Touki Toussaint exercised his McCormick Field demons by picking up the win. Toussaint pitched 5.2 innings and surrendered only one earned run.

Sunday afternoon's contest is scheduled for 2:05pm.
