Dust Devils Erupt Against Salem-Keizer

August 24, 2016

Behind a season-high 13 runs the Tri-City Dust Devils (10-16, 29-35) beat the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes (11-15, 28-36) at Gesa Stadium on Tuesday night 13-2. Four different Tri-City players had multiple hits in the lopsided win.

Buddy Reed was especially effective for the Dust Devils. Reed scored four runs, had three hits, stole two bases, and drove in two runs. Tri-City scored at least one run in each of the first five innings of the game. The Dust Devils pulled away in the middle innings, bringing home nine runs in the fourth and fifth innings combined.

While Tri-City delivered at the plate, the team also received excellent starting pitching. Will Headean tossed six scoreless innings and struck out seven Salem-Keizer batters. Headean earned his fourth win of the season for the Dust Devils.

Left-hander Elier Sanchez will start the rubber match of the five-game series on Wednesday. It will be Sanchez's debut with Tri-City. Salem-Keizer will counter with right-hander Melvin Adon. It will be Back to School Night presented by Sylvan Learning Center.
