Woodrow extends hit streak to seven

Wappingers Falls, NY - The Connecticut Tigers fell to the Hudson Valley Renegades 4-2 on Wednesday night at Dutchess Stadium. The Tigers only managed three hits in the ballgame.

The duo of Noel Rodriguez and J.D. Busfield shut down the Tiger's bats with Rodriguez firing six frames and picking up his fourth win of the season. Busfield came out of the pen, notching a three inning save that included a season-high five strikeouts for the right-hander.

The Tigers managed to plate a pair in the top of the fifth inning. After a two-run homer for Jose Rojas in the bottom of the fourth, the Tigers grabbed their first hit of the game from Josh Lester. Danny Woodrow knotted the game up at two with a two-run single into center that scored Austin Athmann and Lester. The base-hit extended Woodrow's hit streak to seven games.

The Renegades took the lead for good in the sixth with a run scoring on a wild pitch, followed by a sacrifice fly by Danny De La Calle, making it 4-2.

Ryan Castellanos pitched six innings tonight, giving up nine hits and four earned runs. John Schreiber pitched a scoreless seventh inning, picking up two strikeouts in the inning.

Malvin Martinez made his Connecticut Tigers debut, along with Chad Sedio, and pitched a 1-2-3 eighth inning for Connecticut.

The Tigers look to avoid the sweep tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. Gregory Soto looks to be the stopper for the Tigers, carrying a 3-1 record into the game.
