Aguilar 3 RBI Night Drives Clippers Over Bulls

"The Boss" slugs league leading 27th home run of the year
August 31, 2016

After another night of late inning struggles, Columbus (80-58) first baseman Jesus Aguilar made sure that their meeting with Durham (60-78) on Tuesday night at Durham Bulls Athletic Park was well out of reach before the latter innings, as the Clippers big man went 2-for-4 with a two run home run and an RBI double in a 5-1 win over the Bulls in front of a crowd of 5,043.

After Durham took a 1-0 lead in the second inning via Taylor Motter's RBI single to left scoring Daniel Robertson, Aguilar teed off on Bulls starter Jaime Schultz (5-7) in the fourth to give the Clippers a 2-1 lead.

The long ball represented Aguilar's International League leading 27th of the season.

Columbus added three more the next inning to make it 5-1, capped by Aguilar's RBI double scoring Erik Gonzalez.

Schultz was charged for three earned runs on five hits, as he walked a pair of batters and struck out three in four innings of work.

Columbus starter, right hander Toru Murata (8-4), delivered six innings of one run baseball on five hits. He walked one and fanned three.

The Clippers and Bulls will wrap up their regular season series tomorrow night at 7:05 p.m.
