Biscuits Fall to BayBears, Remain in First Place

August 31, 2016

MOBILE, Ala. - The Biscuits lost for just the second time in 11 games on Wednesday night, falling to the Mobile BayBears, 5-3, at Hank Aaron Stadium.

Brent Honeywell (3-2) got the start for the Biscuits, and after allowing an RBI-single to Travis Denker in the bottom of the third, settled down as Montgomery came back to tie the game on an RBI-single by Willy Adames in the fourth. The single extended Adames' hitting streak to 11 games, which ties both a season and team-high.

The Biscuits would take the lead off Mobile starter John Omahen (8-5) in the fifth thanks to RBI-singles from Braxton Lee and Kean Wong that made it 3-1. Honeywell would pitch a scoreless fifth, but in the bottom of the sixth, Rudy Flores came up and cranked a three-run home run over the right field wall to take the lead for good, and the BayBears tacked on another run in the seventh to win by two.

Despite the loss, Montgomery will remain in first place after Jackson was blanked by Biloxi, 2-0, and Chattanooga lost as well, at home to Mississippi, 6-2. The Biscuits will head back to Montgomery to open up their final five-game series of the year against the Tennessee Smokies beginning on Thursday at 7:05 PM with Chris Kirsch (6-7) taking on Zach Hedges (3-2).
