MOBILE, Ala. - Barons' starter Jordan Guerrero turned in another quality start on Friday night in Mobile, but a sixth inning, two-run single by Forrestt Allday proved to be the difference in the game, as the BayBears defeated the Barons 2-1.
Guerrero and Mobile starter Grayson Long battled each other step for step, each tossing a shutout through the first five and a half innings, with Long taking a no hitter into the sixth.

Guerrero worked in and out of trouble for the first five innings, keeping the BayBears off the board, but could not escape damage in the sixth. Michael Hermosillo and David Fletcher each reached to put two runners in scoring position to start the inning. After Guerrero struck out Wade Wass, Allday, who sits amongst the league leaders in batting average, slapped a single to left to score both Hermosillo and Fletcher.
Down 2-0 heading to the seventh, Cameron Seitzer led off the inning with a double and would come around to score on a Mason Robbins RBI single, which cut the lead to 2-1.
After the RBI base hit, Long (3-2, 2.43), who threw six innings of one run ball would yield to the bullpen. Abel De Los Santos worked his way out of the seventh and Adam Hofacket threw a clean eighth, and got Chris O'Dowd to line out with the bases loaded to end the game in the ninth for his second save of the season.
Guerrero scattered eight hits over six plus innings, allowing two runs (one earned) and striking out nine. The lefty now leads the Southern League in strikeouts with 74.
