WINSTON-SALEM, NC - Ten hits by the Wood Ducks including three from Josh Morgan couldn't conceal the Dash's four home runs in a 7-3 defeat on Saturday night. Winston-Salem never trailed in the contest as all four home runs were from different batters and they received RBIs from six spots in the lineup.

In the second, the Dash opened the scoring off Pedro Payano with a two-run home run from Johan Cruz to left field. Tanner Banks pitched for the Dash and could not shut down the Woodies in the third - thanks to Morgan's two-run triple to right-center. Down East also tagged Banks with six hits in the first three innings, but the triple was the only one for extra-bases.
Payano could not get the shutdown inning either, with two solo home runs allowed to Zack Collins and Keon Barnum for the Dash to reclaim the lead 4-2. It was a lead they would not relinquish the rest of the game.
Banks did not allow a runner past second base until the eighth inning for the middle frames of the game. Winston-Salem would strike again with two more runs in the fifth by manufacturing them with a bases loaded groundout and RBI single from Luis Alexander Basabe and Barnum.
Kelvin Vasquez entered for the Woodies to record the last two outs of the fifth and then retired the side in order in the sixth. On the first pitch of the seventh, Trey Michalczewski clocked the fourth homer of the game for Winston-Salem to mark the score at 7-2.
The Wood Ducks showed life late with a two-out RBI double from Michael O'Neill to make things a one-swing game for the ninth. The comeback was not to be as the Woodies could not manage a hit in the ninth and end the losing streak at three games.
Game three of the series is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Sunday with Wood Ducks' lefty Jeffrey Springs countered by the Dash's righty Zach Thompson. You can listen to every pitch of the 2017 season live on Sports/Talk 960 The Bull or streamed live on the TuneIn Radio app.
