Burlington, IA - A day after losing a five-run lead and allowing seven-run inning, the Peoria Chiefs lost a three-run lead and allowed eight runs in an inning while losing 11-4 to the Burlington Bees on Monday. The loss drops the Chiefs to 19-31 on the season and ends a 3-6 road trip.
The Chiefs jumped out to an early lead for the second day in a row. Ryan McCarvel led off the second with a double against Andrew Vinson and moved to third on a single by JR Davis. McCarvel scored on a sacrifice fly from Vince Jackson to center but Davis was thrown out at second on the play.

Peoria added on in the third inning with a two-out rally. Andy Young doubled to left and scored on a double by Brian O'Keefe for a 2-0 Chiefs lead. McCarvel singled home O'Keefe for a 3-0 lead but was tagged out between first and second on the play to end the inning.
The lead disappeared in the third as the Bees batted around for the second day in a row. Jahmai Jones started the inning with a deep fly ball down the right-field line that was called foul instead of a home run and Burlington manager Adam Melhuse was ejected. Jones followed with a single to left and Jack Kruger moved him to third with a double to left. Jordan Zimmerman got the Bees on the board with a single to center and John Schuknecht drove in Kruger to cut the Chiefs lead to 3-2. Brennan Morgan tied the game with a single before Sam McDonnell walked to load the bases. Angel Almao, who did not have a RBI on the season before yesterday, cleared the bases with a double giving him six RBI over the last two days. Kilichowski finally got an out on a grounder but a wild pitch scored Almao to give Burlington a 7-3 lead. After a single by Juan Moreno, the ninth batter of the inning, Eric Carter replaced Kilichowski on the mound. Jones delivered his second hit of the inning, a double, to score Moreno for an 8-3 Bees lead before Carter got consecutive outs to escape the inning.
Young got the Chiefs one run back in the fifth with a solo home run over the high right-field fence. The homer gives Young eight on the season, six on the road and three in a nine at-bat span in Burlington.
Burlington put the game away in the seventh after McCarvel popped out with the bases loaded to end the top of the inning. With one on and one out, Brady Bowen took over on the mound for Austin Sexton and gave up a single to McDonnell. Almao singled to right and Dylan Carlson threw out Morgan at the plate for the second out of the frame. With runners on the corners, Jeyson Sanchez doubled to left to plate two and give the Bees a 10-4 lead. Moreno followed with a single to center to plate Sanchez for an 11-4 lead.
Kilichowski (0-5) took the loss as he allowed eight runs on nine hits over 2 1/3 innings with two walks and three strikeouts. Carter allowed one hit over 2 2/3 shutout innings while striking out three. Sexton hit a batter and struck out a batter over 1 1/3 hitless and shutout innings. Bowen allowed three runs on five hits over 1 2/3 innings while striking out one.
