Great Falls, MT-The Great Falls Voyagers 2017 opening day roster is set. The Pioneer League slate starts in earnest tonight with the Voyagers opening a two-game road series against Helena. The home opener at Centene Stadium is scheduled for Wednesday night against the Brewers.

The 2017 roster features seven players who suited up for Great Falls at some point during the 2016 season. Returning pitchers include Chris Comito, Fernando Gallegos, and Adam Panayotovich. Comito was a 15th round draft pick of the White Sox in 2015 and was a Pioneer League postseason all-star last year. Gallegos and Panayotovich were signed as free agents in 2016. Catchers Nate Nolan and Carlos Perez are back for a second stint with the Voyagers as well. Nolan was an 8th round pick out of St. Mary's College in 2016. Perez hails from Venezuela and signed as a free agent in 2014.
The Voyagers new roster carries 11 picks from last week's first-year MLB player draft. 3rd round selection Luis Gonzalez is an outfielder from the University of New Mexico. Tyler Johnson, a 5th round pick, is a pitcher out of the University of South Carolina. 9th round choice Craig Dedelow is an outfielder from Indiana University. And, 10th round pick J.B. Olson pitched collegiately for the Oklahoma Sooners. Infielder Luis Curbelo, a 6th round draft pick in 2016, joins the Voyagers after playing for the AZL White Sox last season. Curbelo was rated as the White Sox 25th best prospect prior to the start of the 2017 MLB season.
All told, there are 16 pitchers, three catchers, six infielders, and five outfielders. The roster includes eight international players (five from the Dominican Republic, two from Venezuela, and one from Puerto Rico). Of the U.S. born players, four hail from California and three are from Illinois. There are two players each from Arizona and Oklahoma.
