The Kansas City Royals announced on Thursday that Royals southpaw ace Danny Duffy  is expected to join the Omaha Storm Chasers on a Major League Rehab Assignment for the Storm Chasers' contest at Werner Park on Saturday evening against the Memphis Redbirds.

Over his seven-year Major League career, the left-hander has accumulated a 40-37 record and 3.70 ERA (284 ER/691.2 IP), adding 594 strikeouts in 145 Major League appearances (117 starts). He enjoyed a breakout 2016 campaign, posting a 12-3 tally and 3.51 ERA (70 ER/179.2 IP) over 42 outings (26 starts). The 28-year-old was placed on the Disabled List by the Royals with a strained oblique on May 29. Through 11 starts with Kansas City he has accrued a 4-4 record and 3.54 ERA (27 ER/68.2 IP), adding 54 strikeouts.
Duffy pitched for the Storm Chasers during four different seasons, and threw the first Triple-A pitch for Omaha at Werner Park on April 17, 2011. In 24 career outings (22 starts) with Omaha he compiled a 7-1 record and 3.63 ERA (44 ER/109.0 IP), adding 121 strikeouts. He was promoted from the Storm Chasers during the 2011 season and made his Major League debut on May 18, 2011. He was selected by the Royals in the third round of the 2007 MLB Draft.
