Sacramento's Andrew Suárez pitched six shutout innings in the River Cats' 11-3 win over the El Paso Chihuahuas Wednesday night at Southwest University Park. The Chihuahuas have dropped five of their last seven games.

San Diego Padres righty Trevor Cahill allowed two runs on four hits in a three-inning injury rehab start. Cahill was the third Padres pitcher to start a Chihuahuas game in the last week, joining Jered Weaver and Christian Friedrich, who both threw in Albuquerque on El Paso's last road trip.
The Chihuahuas were held without a run until the eighth when Ryan Schimpf hit an RBI double. El Paso added two tallies in the ninth on RBI extra base hits by Rocky Gale and José Rondón. Gale, usually a catcher, took the mound with two outs in the ninth and got a fly ball out, finalizing his second scoreless pitching appearance of the season.
Diego Goris had three hits in the loss for the Chihuahuas.
