SALEM, VA - Jordan Yamamoto allowed just one unearned run on seven hits over a season high seven innings pitched, but the Salem pitching tandem of Roniel Raudes and Logan Boyd combined on a five hit shutout while defeating the Mudcats 1-0 on Tuesday in Salem.

The loss came in the rubber game of three game series and sealed a two games to one series loss for the Mudcats (48-46, 12-14). Tuesday's game marked the final meeting of the season between the two teams and gave the Red Sox (56-39, 16-10) the overall season series victory at six games to two.
Yamamoto (2-3, 3.10) suffered the tough luck loss after allowing just one unearned run in the third inning. He finished the game with seven hits, one walk and seven strikeouts while matching a career high with seven innings pitched. Yamamoto also worked to a season high game score of 74.
The only run of the game came in the third when Jose Sermo led off the frame by reaching on an error by second baseman Isan Díaz. A ground out by Jhon Nunez moved Sermo to second and a single to left by Chris Madera brought him in to give the Red Sox a 1-0 lead.
The one run third was all that Raudes and Boyd needed as they combined on a shutout against the Mudcats. Raudes struck out four, walked two and scattered four hits over six innings and earned the victory. Boyd pitched the final three innings and struck out three while giving up just two hits and earning the save.
The Mudcats left nine men on base and were 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position in the loss. Raudes left two on in both the fourth and fifth innings and Boyd stranded three in the seventh and one in the eighth before pitching a three up, three down ninth.
Boyd earlier escaped a bases loaded jam in the seventh after striking out Monte Harrison to end the frame and left Corey Ray at third after getting Lucas Erceg to pop out to end the eighth. Erceg's pop up nearly fell for a hit, but was snagged by Salem's Jeremy Rivera with a sliding, over-the-shoulder, catch in shallow left.
Wuilder Rodriguez pitched the final frame for the Mudcats and worked through a scoreless inning with a walk and two strikeouts. Rodriguez lowered his earned run average to 0.99 on the season with his scoreless eighth.
