SeaWolves Win Rain-Shortened Game on Saturday

The SeaWolves snapped a two-game slide with a 5-1 win in a rain-shortened game over the Reading Fightin Phils on Saturday night at First Energy Stadium.
The SeaWolves jumped ahead in the top of the first against Reading starter Drew Anderson for their first lead of the series. With one out, Kody Eaves laid down a bunt single against the shift. Dawel Lugo and Christin Stewart followed with back-to-back singles, loading the bases for Gabriel Quintana. Quintana singled to left, Eaves scored an on an error by the left fielder Cord Sandberg, Lugo scored to make it 2-0. Steven Moya followed with a three-run home run to right, his fifth, for a 5-0 lead.
Reading got on the board in the third against Erie starter Beau Burrows. With one out, Drew Stankiewicz walked. Zach Coppola followed and grounded to second and Stankiewicz was retired at second on a fielder's choice. Coppola stole second and scored on an Angelo Mora double to make it 5-1.  
After the conclusion of the fifth inning, the tarp came on the field and play would never resume, resulting in the Erie win.
Burrows (3-3) earned the win tossing a five-inning complete game. He allowed a run on four hits with three walks and two strikeouts.
Anderson (6-4) took the loss for the Fightin Phils. He allowed five runs on five hits with no walks and no strikeouts in 1/3 of an inning. Anderson was ejected after throwing behind Erie catcher Miguel González in the first.
The SeaWolves will look for the series split on Sunday at 5:05 p.m. Lefty Tyler Alexander (5-6, 4.85 ERA) takes the mound for Erie against RHP Tommy Bergjans (1-3, 5.08 ERA).
