Chasers Outlast Chihuahuas in 11, 6-5

Bullpen helps Omaha win 3rd in 4 games

EL PASO - Dean Anna drew a bases-loaded walk to force home the winning run, the Omaha bullpen tossed 6 scoreless innings, and the Storm Chasers defeated El Paso 6-5 in 11 innings on Sunday night at Southwest University Field.

After Andres Machado and Zach Lee traded zeroes for the first 4 innings, the Chasers broke the deadlock in the top of the 5th. Dean Anna led off with his 5th home run of the season, Logan Moon singled, and Jack Lopez doubled. With 2 out, Jorge Soler walked, and Ryan O'Hearn notched a clutch 2-run single, putting Omaha ahead 3-0.
Frank Schwindel extended the lead to 4-0 with a solo longball in the top of the 6th. It was Schwindel's 5th homer in his last 8 games.
El Paso turned it around in the bottom of the 6th. Tony Cruz walked, Rocky Gale doubled, and Peter Van Gansen doubled both runners home. Travis Jankowski singled, and Franchy Cordero put the Chihuahas in front 5-4 with a 3-run homer.
Andres Machado was excellent for 5 innings in his Triple-A debut before running into trouble in the 6th; he departed after 5+ innings, allowing 5 runs, 5 hits, and 1 walk. He struck out 6.
Omaha rallied back in the 7th, on a double by Ryan O'Hearn, a passed ball, and a single by Cam Gallagher , tying the game at 5.
Zack Lee pitched 6.1 innings for El Paso. He was charged with 5 runs on 11 hits, with 3 strikeouts and 1 walk.
Pedro Fernandez , who also made his Triple-A debut, tossed 2 scoreless relief innings for Omaha. Sam Selman pitched a scoreless 8th, striking out the side.
Selman did the same in the bottom of the 9th, pushing the game to extra innings. Eric Stout (W, 5-0) kept the game alive with a zero in the 10th, and the Chasers took the lead in the top of the 11th.
Chesler Cuthbert began the rally with a single, and Ryan O'Hearn and Cam Gallagher each drew 1-out walks to load the bases against El Paso reliever Jason Jester (L, 4-1). With 2 out, Dean Anna drew a run-scoring walk, putting Omaha ahead 6-5.
Stout finished a flawless game by the Storm Chasers' bullpen with a scoreless bottom-half, giving Omaha a hard-fought victory. It was their 3rd win in 4 games.
The Storm Chasers will conclude the series in El Paso tomorrow. RHP Luke Farrell (7-4, 4.07) will toss for Omaha, while the Chihuahuas will counter with LHP Dillon Overton (2-3, 6.48). First pitch is scheduled for 8:05 Central.
