OKLAHOMA CITY, Oklahoma - The Round Rock Express (56-63) and Oklahoma City Dodgers (64-55) split a doubleheader on Sunday afternoon at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark as the E-Train picked up a 1-0 win in game one before dropping game two 2-0.
The story of the first contest was the performance of RHP Nick Martínez (3-0, 2.64). The righty tossed Round Rock's first complete game shutout of the season, blanking the Dodgers on just five hits and a walk in the seven-inning win. OKC starter RHP Wilmer Font (9-7, 3.30) suffered the tough luck loss after allowing only one run on four hits while striking out eight in six innings of work.
The only run of the game came in the fourth inning. Express LF Willie Calhoun opened the frame with a triple prior to a Ronald Guzmán RBI double that provided the only run Round Rock needed to pick up the win in the first game of the day.
E-Train RHP David Ledbetter (2-3, 4.14) suffered an equally tough loss in game two, having allowed only two runs on three hits in five solid innings. Oklahoma City RHP Justin Masterson (10-5, 4.00) picked up the win after shutting out the Express on only four hits in five frames. RHP Walker Buehler earned his first save of the season after striking out five in two innings of relief.
In the third, Dodgers 3B Max Muncy worked a leadoff walk prior to a booming two-run Tim Locastro home run that gave Oklahoma City a 2-0 lead. Round Rock attempted to rally in the top of the fifth. C Kevin Torres and CF Jared Hoying collected back-to-back one-out singles before newly acquired 2B Phil Gosselin worked a walk. However, Torres was picked off third base then SS Jurickson Profar lined out to end the threat.
Round Rock and Oklahoma City cap off their four-game series on Sunday night. Express RHP James Dykstra (2-6, 7.11) is scheduled to face former E-Train and current OKC RHP Eddie Gamboa (0-0, 3.00). First pitch at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
