CLEARWATER, Fla. (August 16, 2017) - The Clearwater Threshers snapped a nine-game losing streak with a 6-4 win over the St. Lucie Mets on Wednesday at Spectrum Field.

The Mets outhit the Threshers 12-4, but two costly errors in the fourth inning led to Clearwater scoring four unearned runs.

St. Lucie entered the fourth inning with a 1-0 lead thanks to Jhoan Urena's solo homer. But it quickly unraveled for starter Nabil Crismatt. It looked like he induced a potential double play to the second batter Jose Gomez, but shortstop J.C. Rodriguez made a throw to second base that pulled Jeff McNeil off the bag leading to both runners being safe. After Cornelius Randolph walked to load the bases, Wilson Garcia grounded a ball to first base that went under the glove of Peter Alonso. Two runs scored to put the Threshers ahead 2-1.

Zach Green came up next and pulled a two-run double down the line. Later in the inning a run scored on a ground out to make it 5-1 Threshers.

The Mets scored three runs in the fifth inning to climb back into the game. McNeil and Wuilmer Becerra hit back-to-back RBI singles to cut the deficit to 5-4.

That's as close as the Mets would come. Clearwater's Emmanuel Marrero led off the bottom of the fifth with a solo home run to make it 6-4.

Three Threshers relievers shut the Mets out over the final four innings. Luke Leftwich pitched 2.1 scoreless innings to earn the win. Major League rehabber Casey Fein tossed a scoreless eighth. Seth McGarry picked up his third save for the Threshers with a perfect ninth.

Jeurys Familia (shoulder) made a Major League rehab appearance for the Mets. He faced three batters in the sixth inning. He walked one, struck out another and induced an inning-ending double play. He threw nine pitches.

Crismatt took the loss. He gave up a six runs (two earned) over five innings. He struck out six.

Urena went 3 for 5. McNeil went 2 for 4. He has eight hits in the first three games of the series.

J.C. Rodriguez was 2 for 3 with two stolen bases.

The Mets (55-66, 22-31) and Threshers (62-61, 23-30) play their series finale on Thursday. First pitch from Spectrum Field is 7 p.m.
