DES MOINES, IA - John Andreoli hit a walk-off homer and Williams Pérez spun a complete game as the Iowa Cubs (61-63) beat the Colorado Springs Sky Sox (71-51) in both ends of a doubleheader, Thursday at Principal Park. The I-Cubs shut out the Sky Sox in both games, taking the first contest 1-0 and the nightcap 6-0.

Angel Ventura was perfect through six in game one, as the two teams took a scoreless tie into the final frame. Andreoli was the hero, swatting a leadoff homer in the seventh to end perfection and give Iowa the walk-off win. Jen-Ho Tseng was also brilliant for Iowa, spinning six frames and allowing just two hits and four walks with two strikeouts. Jack Leathersich (2-4) pitched the final frame, earning the win for Iowa.
In game two, Iowa broke open a scoreless game with a four-run fourth inning, scoring on three hits and an error. Stephen Bruno, Jacob Hannemann and Elliot Soto all cracked RBI doubles with two outs. Back-to-back home runs from Mike Freeman and Bijan Rademacher in the seventh inning padded the I-Cubs' lead and they cruised to victory. Perez was flawless into the fourth, but a two-out single from Brett Phillips foiled the perfect effort. He came away with a seven-inning, complete-game shutout, taking the win to improve to 6-8 on the year.
Iowa and Colorado Springs wrap up the series tomorrow at 7:08 p.m. for Firework Friday at Principal Park. For more information or tickets, visit www.iowacubs.com.
