PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (August 18, 2017) - The Dunedin Blue Jays shut out the St. Lucie Mets 4-0 at First Data Field on Friday.
 
Cavan Biggio and Vladimir Guerrero, Jr. hit solo home runs to lead the Jays offense. The two prospects are the sons of former Major League stars Craig Biggio and Vladimir Guerrero.
 
Blue Jays starter Tayler Saucedo pitched six scoreless innings to earn the win. He walked the first two batters of the sixth inning but recovered to get Peter Alonso to hit into a double play and Jhoan Urena to fly out.
 
Relievers Alonzo Gonzalez and Jackson McClelland combined to get the final nine outs.
 
Biggio was the first batter of the game and hit his homer on the ninth pitch of his at-bat vs. Kevin Canelon.
 
Guerrero, Jr. hit a RBI single in the third to make it 2-0. Juan Kelly added a RBI sac fly in the inning.
 
Guerrero, Jr., who is 18 years old, slugged a homer on the first pitch Craig Missigman threw in the sixth inning.
 
Three of the first four hitters for the Mets - John Mora, Alonso and Urena - singled in the first inning. The Mets didn't record another hit until Mora's one-out single in the eighth.
 
Mora went 2 for 3 with a walk.
 
Canelon took the loss. He allowed two earned runs in four innings.
 
For Dunedin, Kelly went 3 for 3.
 
The Mets (56-67, 23-32) and Blue Jays (65-59, 31-24) play the second game of their series at First Data Field on Saturday. First pitch is 6:30 p.m. There will be postgame fireworks.
