Schwindel Homers in 10-3 Defeat

Early runs sink Storm Chasers in Round Rock

ROUND ROCK- Frank Schwindel continued his strong 2nd Half with a home run, but Round Rock took a big lead in the first 3 innings and cruised to a 10-3 win over Omaha on Monday night at Dell Diamond.

Round Rock began their early onslaught with 2 runs in the bottom of the 1st. Jurickson Profar and Drew Stubbs singled, and they advanced to 2nd and 3rd on a groundout. Will Middlebrooks grounded out to drive in Profar, and Ronald Guzmán singled in Stubbs for a 2-0 lead.
Frank Schwindel blasted his 16th home run for Omaha in the top of the 2nd, cutting the deficit to 2-1.
The Express hit back with 4 in the bottom of the 2nd, however. Jared Hoying and Tyler Smith began the rally with singles, and they advanced on a sacrifice bunt by Doug Bernier. Jurickson Profar singled to score Hoying, and Drew Stubbs singled home Smith. With 2 out, Will Middlebrooks doubled in Profar and Stubbs, making it 6-1 Round Rock.
Round Rock added 2 more in the 3rd. Jared Hoying singled, Doug Bernier singled, Drew Stubbs walked, and Willie Calhoun drove home Hoying and Bernier with a single, giving the Express an 8-1 margin.
Onelki Garcia (L, 7-3) settled in after the first 3 innings, working into the bottom of the 6th. He was charged with 8 runs, 14 hits, and 1 walk over 5.1 innings. He struck out 2.
Omaha cut into the deficit in the top of the 7th. Frank Schwindel walked, Hunter Dozier doubled, Dean Anna scored Schwindel with an RBI groundout, and Terrance Gore's RBI single plated Dozier. It was 8-3.
Anthony Bass (W, 3-3) pitched 6.2 innings for Round Rock, allowing 3 runs on 5 hits. He struck out 4 and walked 2.
Round Rock tallied a run in the bottom of the 7th on singles by Bernier, Stubbs, and Middlebrooks, pushing their lead back to 9-3.
A.J. Jimenez made it 10-3 with a solo homer in the bottom of the 8th, capping off a 19-hit attack for the Express.
The Storm Chasers will seek to split the series in Round Rock tomorrow night. RHP Andres Machado (1-1, 4.76) will toss for Omaha, while RHP Clayton Blackburn (5-2, 5.33) will toss for the Express. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05.
