Chiefs Hit Four Homers, Pigs Fall 7-4

Kingery Extends Hitting Streak To 20 Games

The Syracuse Chiefs (49-80) used four solo home runs, two from Brandon Snyder to defeat the IronPigs (71-58) by the score of 7-4 Tuesday night at Coca-Cola Park before 8,089 fans.

The Syracuse Chiefs (49-80) used four solo home runs, two from Brandon Snyder to defeat the IronPigs (71-58) by the score of 7-4 Tuesday night at Coca-Cola Park before 8,089 fans.

After a 75 minute rain delay, the Chiefs scored four runs in the final three innings to give Syracuse the 7-4 win.
The Pigs did however make a comeback in the bottom of the seventh inning, scoring two runs to tie the game at 4. Andrew Pullin roped an RBI single down the right left field line to bring the Pigs within one run. Carlos Tocci then singled home Herlis Rodriguez, tying the game at 4 heading to the eighth inning.
With two outs in the eighth inning, Spencer Kieboom hit a solo shot to left field off Pigs reliever Pat Venditte to give Syracuse a 5-4 lead that they would not relinquish.
The Chiefs added a pair of runs in the top of the ninth inning to take a 7-4 lead.
The Pigs then went in order in the bottom half of the ninth inning to end the game.
Snyder tied the game at 1 in the top of the second as he led off the frame with a solo shot to left-center field.
The Chiefs right fielder then came on in the fourth as the lead-off man in the top of the fourth inning. He and Matt Skole would hit back-to-back home runs giving the Chiefs a 3-1 lead after four.
The Pigs scored the games first run, as Scott Kingery came around to score on a J.P. Crawford RBI single to give Lehigh Valley a 1-0 lead.
Kingery led off the game with a double to left field, extending the second baseman's hitting streak to 20 games - one shy of the 21-game hit streak by Domonic Brown from July 21, 2010 through August 1, 2011.
The Pigs inched closer in the bottom of the sixth inning, as Angelo Mora hit an RBI single to right field scoring Carlos Tocci to trim the Chiefs lead to 3-2.
Irving Falu would add an insurance run for the Chiefs in the top of the seventh inning. Falu singled home Rafael Bautista, who led off the frame with a single to right, to give Syracuse a 4-2 lead before the rain began to come down at Coca-Cola Park.
Pigs starter José Taveras was tabbed with the his second loss of the season, as the right-hander surrendered the three home runs, seven hits and struck out seven batters.
Carlos Tocci went 3-for-4 on the night with an RBI in the sixth inning.
The series continues with game three of the four-game series against the Syracuse Chiefs Wednesday night at Coca-Cola Park. The Pigs will send right-hander Drew Anderson (0-0, 0.00) to make his Triple-A debut, and the Chiefs will send right-hander Esmil Rogers (1-2, 4.27). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
