TROY, NY - The Tri-City ValleyCats, Class A New York-Penn League affiliate of the World Series champion Houston Astros, announced their 2018 summer promotional schedule on Wednesday. Highlights include 15 fireworks shows, two bobblehead giveaways, four specialty jerseys, a viewing of the Astros' World Series trophy, and the return of many fan-favorite themes!

The ValleyCats will recognize the accomplishments of their parent club Houston Astros by giving away two MVP bobbleheads in 2018, presented by Snapple. On Tuesday, July 24 as part of Vamos Gatos: Es Divertido Ser Un Fan / Latin Heritage Night, the first 1,500 fans will receive a bobblehead of American League MVP José Altuve, who played with the ValleyCats in 2009.
On Wednesday, August 15 as part of Capital Region Baseball Heritage Night, the first 1,500 fans will receive a bobblehead of World Series MVP George Springer, who played with the 'Cats in 2011.
The Astros' 2017 World Series trophy will be on display at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium on Friday, August 3 as part of Boots, BBQ & Baseball Night as the ValleyCats pay tribute to their Texas ties with Houston.
The ValleyCats team will be wearing four unique specialty themed jerseys in 2018 to benefit local charities. On June 28 as part of Military Appreciation / Veterans Night presented by Brunswick Harley-Davidson, the team will be wearing military themed jerseys which will be auctioned off during the game.
On Wednesday, July 18 the 'Cats will be wearing Harry Potter themed jerseys for Harry Potter Night, and fans can participate in a raffle for each jersey. Make-A-Wish Northeast New York and the ValleyCats have partnered to present Wishes are Out of This World on Sunday, July 29, as the team wears Make-A-Wish themed jerseys to be auction off during the game.
Hockey Night in the Capital Region will take place at "The Joe" on Tuesday, August 21 as the team wears USA themed hockey jerseys which will be auctioned off to benefit the MS Society.
Fan-favorite promotions returning in 2018 include Youth Baseball Night on June 22 presented by BlueShield of Northeastern New York & Hannaford Supermarkets, WWE Night on June 23, Star Wars Night on June 30, an Independence Day Celebration on July 4, Medieval Times Night on August 4 presented by Driscoll Foods, Bark in the Park on August 27, and Community Heroes / Superhero Night on July 19 presented by Community Resource Federal Credit Union.
Additional cultural theme nights include Around the World in Nine Innings on July 7, Irish Night on July 17 presented by TD Bank, with a pregame concert by Hair of the Dog and 2018 team poster giveaway, and Italian Night on August 16.
New promotions for 2018 include Public Safety Awareness Night on June 21 presented by National Grid, Prom Night / Teachers Appreciation on June 29, Across the USA on July 5, Tribute to Shark Week on July 27, and Bowling Bonanza on August 10.
Opening Weekend begins with the season opener on Friday, June 15 at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium, which will be presented by Rensselaer County Department of Health and feature a 2018 schedule magnet giveaway. On Saturday, June 16 the 'Cats host Health & Home Runs presented by Catseye Pest Control, and Sunday, June 17 is Pirates & Princesses Night with a Father's Day twist!
Fans can find a full list of promotions and further details online at tcvalleycats.com. Individual tickets for the ValleyCats 2018 season are set to go on sale Thursday, March 29 at 10:00am, coinciding with Major League Baseball's Opening Day.
The Joseph L. Bruno Stadium Box Office will be open Thursday and Friday from 10:00am - 6:00pm, and on Saturday from 10:00am-2:00pm. For those interested in employment opportunities with the ValleyCats, a job fair will also be held at "The Joe" this Saturday, March 31 from 10:00am-12:00pm.
