Despite not having a lead at any point through seven innings, Palm Beach put up four runs on the scoreboard en route to its first victory of the season, a 7-3 win over Jupiter.
After allowing three runs in the opening frame, Palm Beach starting pitcher Evan Kruczynski settled in and finished his start not allowing a hit in his final three innings on the mound.
In the bottom of the first, Johan Mieses hit his, and the team's first home run of the season. It was a two-run shot that left the Cardinals down one after the first inning.
Evan Mendoza tied up the score in the bottom of the third on an RBI single. He was one of five players who recorded a multi-hit game.
The real star of Palm Beach's win on Friday was its bullpen.
Ronnie Williams relieved starter Kruczynski and threw two perfect innings, striking out three in his first appearance of the season.
Jason Zgardowski was next up and threw 1 1/3 innings, allowing just one hit. Jacob Patterson then followed with 2/3 scoreless innings that kept the game tied heading into the bottom of the eighth --- Which is when the Cardinals' bats woke up.
With the bases loaded and already one run in, J.B. Woodman hit a three-run triple to right center field, extending the Palm Beach lead to 7-3.
Will Latcham threw a scoreless ninth to preserve the victory.
As a team, Palm Beach hit 11-33 and had six different hitters record a run.
The teams will switch spots on the scoreboard on Saturday as Jupiter becomes the home team for the final two games of the opening series.
First pitch on Saturday is set for 5:30 PM.
