Iowa Held Scoreless in Nashville

NASHVILLE, TN - The Iowa Cubs (1-3) dropped their first road game of the season to the Nashville Sounds (2-4) 7-0, Tuesday at First Tennessee Park.

NASHVILLE, TN - The Iowa Cubs (1-3) dropped their first road game of the season to the Nashville Sounds (2-4) 7-0, Tuesday at First Tennessee Park.

The I-Cubs didn't lack offense as they collected seven hits and three walks, but the team was 0-for 2 with runners in scoring position. Alec Mills started strong, but allowed two runs in the second on three hits and left the game in the fifth with one out and two runners on. Both later scored off Brad Markey with a double from Dustin Fowler. Mills collected the loss as he was tagged with four earned runs over 4.1 innings. He walked three and fanned six. 
Cubs prospect Duane Underwood Jr. took over for Iowa in the sixth, making his Triple-A pitching debut. After retiring the first six batters he faced, Nashville got to Underwood in the eighth. Four hits and an error in the inning led to a decisive 7-0 lead for the Sounds. Underwood ended his introduction with 3.0 innings, four hits, three runs, two earned run and three strikeouts. 
Bijan Rademacher highlighted Iowa's offensive effort, going 2-for-4 with a double and a walk. He is batting .500 (6-for-12) on the season.
