DUNEDIN, FL - Dunedin scored the winning run without the benefit of a hit in their 14-13 win over Daytona in 10 innings Saturday night at Dunedin Stadium.
The Tortugas coughed up a 13-12 lead in the eighth, when RHP Joel Kuhnel allowed his first run of the year on a Rodrigo Orozco double.
Dunedin would walk-off, literally, in the tenth without the use of a hit. Under the new MiLB extra inning rules, a runner was placed at second to begin the frame. After getting a groundout, RHP Nick Howard intentionally walked the bases loaded. It was the unintentional walk that did the Tortugas in, however, as Howard triggered the celebrations with a five pitch walk of Orozco.
The Tortugas pounded out a season-best 17 hits, but surrendered leads of 4-0, 7-6 and 13-12.
Daytona will search for the series win Sunday afternoon in the finale of the road trip. RHP Tony Santillan (2-0, 0.00) will get the ball for Daytona against RHP TJ Zeuch (2-1, 2.89).
First pitch is scheduled for 1 PM, with coverage beginning at 12:45 PM with The Metcare Pregame Show on AM 1230, AM 1490, and FM 106.9 WSBB.
NOTES: Isbandel Isabel is 8-for-11 in the series with a home run and six RBI... Daniel Sweet has reached base in 22 straight games, the longest active streak in the FSL and the longest for Daytona since Gavin Lavelley's 23 game streak in July of 2016... Dilson Herrera has hit safely in seven straight games, including three hits Saturday... Daytona is now 3-for-6 in save situations and 1-1 in extra innings, under the new rules.
